The Band

Graham – Drums

Over 2 years ago before my 70th birthday & having lost most of my sight, I was wondering what I was going to do for the rest of my life. Music had become a big part of my life & remembering the good times I had back in the 60’s playing drums for “The Triffids” & “Infra Red” I thought I would like to try & re-live my youth!

I replied to many bands advertising for a drummer but as soon as they found out that I didn’t drive I was never considered. So, I decided to advertise myself warts’n’all as a mature visually impaired drummer looking to start a band.

Musicians  came & went until we finally settled on the great line-up we have now.

Rob – Lead Guitar and Vocals

Rob is our mild mannered retired English teacher, who enjoys sailing and the odd trip out on his motorbike.

But by night our classically trained Rob certainly knows how to rock out and provides the band with excellent guitar solo’s, which could go just about anywhere………….

Mike – “The Bass”

Mike, like most bass players is happy to stand in the shadows and just play great riffs.

If asked he would simply say “I am just the Bass player”, which other members of the band would agree is an under statement.

Nigel – Rhythm Guitar and Vocals

I have had a Guitar ever since I was a kid, although early attempts were limited to “Skip to the Lou” performed to my Gran.

Serious playing started in the 1980’s, I used to attend a Folk Club in Christchurch with some mates, strictly as an observer. Eventually I was cajoled into playing a couple of songs and this continued at various Folk Clubs and open Mic Nights for about 30 years.

As a result of advertising a Microphone stand on e-bay I was invited to join a 60’s revival band in Oxfordshire where I lived at the time. This continued for 6 years until I returned to Lymington.

Thinking that I would never have to opportunity to play in a band again, I sold most of my gear. Two weeks later I met Graham who by chance mentioned that he had a band; I cheekily asked if he had a vacancy – and here I am!

Debby – Lead Singer and Guitar

I have loved music my whole life and can remember singing and performing for family even before I was 10 years old.  I took up drums in my teens and later played with Country Rock and metal bands.  I started playing guitar about 10 years ago to aid my songwriting (drums don’t quite do the job!), performing at open mic nights both locally and at writers nights in Nashville, USA.

About 5 years ago, I accidently found myself in a position to start my own band, and I formed a 4-part close harmony ladies vocal group.  That experience has led to me running open mic nights myself and also being involved in a few different projects with other musicians, one of which introduced me to Mike, bass player for Behind The Mask.  A short while later I joined the band as lead vocalist and on guitar, offering an extra layer of guitar sound and harmony vocals.
